Suze Orman Featured in 4 Steps to a Worry-Free Will, Trust
9/28/2008

The Best-Selling Author and TV personality Suze Orman featured in the Bucks County Courier Times on September 28, 2008, stating the “4 steps to a worry-free will, trust”

  1. Create and fund a living revocable trust. "When you die with just a will, your beneficiaries will most likely see it wind its way through a court process known as probate."

  2. Add an "incapacity clause" to your trust.  "Financial power of attorney isn't the answer.  The reality is that many financial powers of attorney become null and void the day you fall itll, unless you have included an incapacity clause inthe document."

  3. "Joint Tenancy With Right of Survivorship" is no substitute.  In the case of a second marriage after the death of your spouse you will end up having "disinherited your own children, and there is nothing you can do about it."

  4. Don't forget the will. "only items covered by a trust are those that have been funded -- specifically added to the trust.  ....having [a will as] a backup comes in mighty handy."
